Privacy Policy
Effective: July 12, 2026
Plotholes (plotholeshq.com) is a community for discussing movies and TV shows — plot holes, theories, and honest takes. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site handles and what happens to it.
What we collect
- Account information. When you create an account: your email address, a password (stored only in securely encrypted form — we never see it), and the display name you choose.
- What you post. Comments, images you attach, your plot-tightness and enjoyment votes, and any reports you file.
- Technical basics. Like nearly every website, our service providers automatically log standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site running and secure. We do not run advertising trackers or analytics tools at this time.
What is public
Plotholes is a public community. Your display name, comments, and attached images are visible to anyone on the internet, along with community vote totals (individual votes are not shown publicly with your name). Your email address is never displayed publicly.
How your information is used
Only to run Plotholes: signing you in, showing your posts to the community, counting votes, and handling reports. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing email.
Where it lives
Plotholes is built on trusted service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — stores accounts, posts, votes, and uploaded images (their privacy policy)
- Netlify — hosts and serves the website (their privacy policy)
- TMDB (The Movie Database) — your browser fetches movie and TV information directly from TMDB, which sees standard request data (their privacy policy)
- jsDelivr — a content network your browser loads one software library from
Cookies & local storage
Plotholes uses your browser's local storage for one essential purpose: keeping you signed in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used. If ads are added in the future, this policy will be updated first and the change noted here.
Your choices
- Delete your posts — anytime, with the Delete button on your own comments.
- Change your vote — voting again simply replaces your previous vote.
- Delete your account or request your data — email us (below) and we'll delete your account and its data, or send you a copy of it, within 30 days.
Children
Plotholes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
